Fresh water on earth is limited, similar to oil and natural gas. Salty water is abundant on earth, but major living beings like humans, animals and birds rely on fresh water supply. Fresh water is collected on earth in form of rain, rivers, ponds/lakes underground sweet water. Due to pollution, tree cutting, fresh water wastage, etc the ground water level is decreasing for us and rivers and ponds are drying up. The result is less and unpredictable raining.

Every now and then we watch one of us making use of tap water and the tap is continuously open during morning brushing hours or shaving. For washing even a couple of cloth, washing machine use has become a must use service leading to not only power consumption, but also water crisis.

Families and offices have installed air purifiers and thus forgot about their basic duty towards environmental air purification outside their home, building and office premises.

So technology has made a powerful control into our livelihood, further destroying the beauty of our nature due to inadequate and irresponsible use of technological innovations. The way these improper practices are increasing in our society, the risk of global warming and pollution level is also increasing rapidly.

Also with time passage, the population is growing rapidly. To fight with the alarming situation we should come with a nice approaches which could give a reverse fight back towards forest rehabilitation:

  • Separate water tank for each family – If one family use more water per day, then they themselves get notified of their excess water usage if the convention of separate water tank is followed in each major society.
  • Minimize use of AC and Washing Machines – Global warming is also causing untimely rainfall. To encourage use of public transport and employ personal vehicle only during emergencies. AC usage should also be minimized whenever and wherever applicable. Also people can minimize the usage of equipment like washing machine if not required urgently.
  • Rain Water Harvesting – In the fast growing economy, the natural ponds and rivers are decreasing. Rivers are drying. If all the rain water are moving to the rivers through sewage system and not being harvested, then this is a factor of decreasing ground level fresh water. So harvesting of the rain water in form of ponds is very essential in today world. During new society or apartments construction, prior planning should be done for water harvesting system in addition to tree plantation and fire safety.
  • Plan Tree Plantation few years before Actual Tree Cutting – When we execute mass trees cutting for development and industrial works, the natural resources are depleted abundantly causing soil erosion and increase in chemical pollution in air. Further trees are planted in some other area as a counter action. However since the trees takes time of around 5 to 8 years to grow again to the same level. So the natural resource devastation continues further for next 5 years. When greenery in the city is no more visible, people during vacations move towards hill station like Shimla, Nainital, Manali, Srinagar, Darjeeling to relive some of their mental stress and feel the natural gifts from our God to living beings.
  • Delayed Marriages – Marriages can be planned some year later than the Govt approved minimum age of 18 and 21 under many circumstances. This will perhaps suppress the population growth rate which is at present moving at an alarming pace. Also through promotion of some of these kind of policies, it will not result into a forced policy impact on people and the basic purpose will also get solved if some percentage of people enjoy benefits of these policies.

Necessity is to recycle fresh water in form of ponds and lakes water collection.

  • Separate sewage system to store in ponds – RO water waste, hand wash water waste, washing machine soap water can be collected.
  • Rain water harvesting by each big building – During society design only the water harvesting system can be designed. Rain water from buildings and societies can be routed to ponds rather than to sewage system and finally to sea and ocean.
  • Flood situation Handling – River overflowing should be re-routed towards dry ponds and lakes rather than let them move towards sea and ocean and at the end resulting into salty water addition to ocean.

So in fact we have many suggestions that can bring pollution free life to our earth. It is just a matter to start with the initial step.
